Heat treatment process for automotive gears

1. Pre heat treatment process

This process is the core step of the automotive gear manufacturing process. By pre heat treating the automotive gear blank, the surface of the automotive gear blank can present a higher hardness, paving the way for the second heat treatment of the automotive gear blank. The core method of the traditional pre heat treatment process is normalizing, which requires less equipment and can complete the production of automotive gears without any large-scale processing equipment. When using the normalizing process to produce automotive gears, this method requires less energy consumption and simpler process requirements, which is widely used in production. However, this method can lead to the problems of low blank strength and deformation of automotive gears, and the use of gears in automotive production is not conducive to maintaining the stable operation of the vehicle.

2. Carburizing process

This process mainly improves the comprehensive mechanical properties of automotive gears through gas carburization, and is widely used in the production of automotive gears. Most automobile manufacturers use the carburizing process for the production of automobile gears. The gas carburizing process is actually a relatively common surface hardening treatment process. Introducing this process into the production of low-carbon steel can achieve a higher level of performance of low-carbon steel. In order to produce the carburized layer depth with the best performance, most automobile manufacturers introduce computer control systems into automobile production equipment to control the entire production process of the automobile through computers. The main content of the system control is the carburized layer depth and surface hardness. With the support of computer control systems, it is beneficial to reduce the probability of deformation of automobile gears.

3. Carbonitriding process

In order to ensure good penetration depth and hardness of automotive gears, this study selected the carbonitriding process to treat automotive gears. The carbonitriding process can improve the depth and hardness of the penetration layer of automotive gears within a specific period of time, while minimizing the probability of deformation of automotive parts, and improving the strength and wear resistance of automotive gears. The carbonitriding process is an advanced technology formed after many experiments and studies. It was first applied to the production of gears in tanks, then extended to the production of gears in civil vehicles, and finally popularized throughout the country.

4. Nitriding process

This process is one of the traditional heat treatment processes. Using this process for the production of automotive gears can make the bearing capacity of automotive gears unable to achieve the expected effect, which is not conducive to the promotion of the nitriding process. However, the nitriding process has low temperature requirements. When using this process to complete the production of automotive gears, it can reduce the distortion of the forging billet and reduce the processing procedures. Applying this technology to the production of automotive gears is beneficial to reducing unit production costs.

5. Induction hardening

Most automobile manufacturers use induction hardening to complete production at the initial stage of automobile gear manufacturing, which has high production efficiency and can effectively reduce the deformation probability of the workpiece; At the same time, it also has the advantages of low energy consumption and easy automation, and is widely used in the field of automotive production.
