Analysis of Factors Influencing Velocity Fluctuation in Elliptical Arc Tooth Line Cylindrical Gear Transmission

A detailed study was conducted on the influence of the dynamic characteristics of elliptical arc-shaped cylindrical gears on the velocity fluctuation coefficient. In the experiment, Adams was used to analyze the effects of machining cutter head radius (tooth line short half axis), tooth width, and speed on speed fluctuations. Draw the following conclusion:

(1) When the value of the cutterhead radius is 1 34b≤RT ≤2. In the 34b range, the speed fluctuation coefficient is relatively small, and the smoothness of elliptical arc tooth line cylindrical gear transmission is improved.

(2) When the value range of tooth width for elliptical arc tooth line cylindrical gears is 0 6RT ≤b≤0. At 8RT, the speed fluctuation within this range is relatively small, and the elliptical arc tooth line cylindrical gear transmission has good stability.

(3) As the speed of the elliptical arc tooth line cylindrical gear increases, the elliptical arc tooth line cylindrical gear will operate more smoothly. This experimental phenomenon indicates that the elliptical arc tooth line cylindrical gear is suitable for high-speed working conditions.
