Adjustment of machining parameters for Hypoid Gears

The relevant theories of hypoid gears and the influence of machine tool processing adjustment parameters on tooth contact analysis (TCA) are studied. The work and main conclusions are as follows:

(1) The tooth surface meshing principle of spiral bevel gear and the curvature relationship of conjugate tooth surface are described. Based on the geometric model and meshing principle of hypoid gear, the tooth surface mathematical model of hypoid gear is established, and the matlab program for solving the tooth surface equation is completed. By solving the tooth surface equation, the grid tooth surface coordinates are obtained, and the gear blank model of hypoid gear is established by using the Three-dimensional Modeling Software Solidworks.

(2) According to the tooth contact analysis principle of Gleason spiral bevel gear, the matlab program for TCA analysis is compiled. By adjusting the machining parameters, the influence rules of different machining parameters on the tooth surface contact analysis results are obtained. The analysis shows that during TCA, first adjust the pitch cone distance of the small wheel forming wheel to obtain a satisfactory motion curve, and then adjust other machining parameters to obtain a good tooth surface contact area. This method can quickly obtain the machining adjustment parameters that meet the requirements.

(3) The influence of the adjustment accuracy of machining parameters on the tooth surface contact is studied by artificially setting the adjustment error of machining parameters of a single machine tool. The research shows that the accuracy of the vertical wheel position, radial cutter position and radial cutter position of the large wheel is very sensitive to the tooth surface contact, while the accuracy of the large wheel rocker angle, axial wheel position, bed position and the vertical wheel position, rocker angle, axial wheel position and bed position of the small wheel are not sensitive to the tooth surface contact. These sensitive parameters mainly affect the motion curve of hypoid gear pair, that is, the transmission stability of hypoid gear pair is greatly affected, and the contact area of hypoid gear pair is less affected. Therefore, in actual production, we should try our best to improve the adjustment accuracy of the vertical wheel position, radial cutter position and radial cutter position of the small wheel.
