Analysis Conclusion of Wind Resistance Power Loss of Aviation Spiral Bevel Gear Pair

The windage power loss of aviation spiral bevel gear pair can be concluded through simulation analysis:

1) For the spiral bevel gear pair in the aviation reducer, the wind shield installed on the driven gear can significantly reduce the wind resistance power loss of the driven gear, and the smaller the clearance value, the more obvious the effect of reducing the wind resistance power loss. However, the wind resistance power loss of the driving gear remains basically unchanged, and the smaller the opening of the spiral bevel gear mesh, the smaller the wind resistance power loss of the driven gear, but the impact is not particularly significant.

2) No matter whether the driven gear has a wind shield or not, the maximum pressure appears on the gear teeth entering the meshing state, and the minimum pressure appears on the gear tooth surface exiting the meshing state.

3) After the driven wheel is equipped with a wind shield, the air velocity in the fluid domain between the wind shield and the box body decreases significantly. As the gap between the wind shield and the spiral bevel gear shrinks, the peak velocity of air in the flow field between the wind shield and the spiral bevel gear increases, but the flow field area with higher velocity decreases.

4) The smaller the clearance between the wind shield and the spiral bevel gear is, the more favorable it is to reduce the wind resistance loss. As the clearance between the wind shield and the spiral bevel gear decreases, the average turbulent flow energy of the flow field near the gear tooth surface decreases.

5) The wind shield with the best effect in the simulation can reduce the wind resistance power loss of the spiral bevel gear by 55.3%, and the clearance of the wind shield is 1mm.
