Cutting principle and adjustment parameters of cycloid hypoid gear

Cycloid hypoid gears are milled by continuous indexing double-sided method whether there is generating motion or not. As shown in the figure, ZC group of cutter teeth are installed on the end washing cutter head, and each group of cutter teeth is composed of inner knife and outer knife respectively. When the cutter head rotates a group of cutter teeth, the wheel also rotates a tooth with the production wheel, and the concave convex surface of the wheel with a tooth groove is processed. The movement of the cutter head relative to the forming wheel can be regarded as the pure rolling of the circle on the cutter head and the base circle on the forming wheel, and any point of the blade forms a long epicycloid tooth line on the forming wheel.

During machining, the tooth cutting process of Cycloid Bevel Gears and hypoid gears can be divided into two movements: tooth splitting and generating:

(a) Tooth splitting movement: the cutter head rotates a group of cutter teeth, and the wheel also rotates a tooth. At this time, the hypothetical forming wheel also rotates a tooth;

(b) Generating motion: the shaking table rotates by an angle, and the wheel also rotates by an additional angle with the imaginary production wheel respectively.

In the full expansion method, when processing large and small wheels, and in the semi expansion method, when processing small wheels, the rotation of the cutter head and the shaking table are two independent movements, that is, the linear blade on the cutter head is a two degree of freedom movement, one is with the rotation of the cutter head, and the other is with the revolution of the shaking table, The motion of wheel return is the superposition of tooth splitting motion and generating motion.

In the semi generating method, when machining large wheels, the shaking table does not move, and only the rotation of the cutter head is an independent motion, that is, the linear blade on the cutter head is a single degree of freedom motion, that is, with the rotation of the cutter head, while the motion of the wheel is only divided teeth.
