Determination of tool shifting amount of gear hobbing and tool shifting method

The hob cuts at a certain position, and the cutting teeth bear different working loads, so the wear amount of each tooth is different. If the hob is moved a distance along its axis after machining one or more gears, the new cutter teeth will enter the cutting area, and the front cutter teeth will exit the cutting area, so that all cutter teeth have the same wear, which can prolong the service life of the hob to the greatest extent. Therefore, tool shifting is an effective method to use the hob economically. Tool shifting amount = axial pitch / number of grooves; There are two methods of tool channeling:

(1) After machining one or more gears, move the hob to the left or right by a tool shifting amount The total amount of tool channeling is equal to the full length of the tool string distance;

(2) Each tool channeling amount is equal to a tooth pitch. After reaching the end point, move the hob to the starting point and move a tool channeling amount in the tool channeling direction as calculated above. The subsequent tool channeling is still a tooth pitch.
