Factors Influencing the Velocity Fluctuation of Elliptical Arc Tooth Line Cylindrical Gear Transmission

Cylindrical gear transmission devices are widely used in various mechanical structures. With the vigorous development of modern manufacturing, the dynamic characteristics analysis of the key transmission component – cylindrical gears has become increasingly important. Currently, most cylindrical gears operate under high-speed and heavy-duty conditions. So, under various harsh working conditions, the operation status of the device depends on the smoothness of transmission between cylindrical gears, and the smoothness of transmission of the device is closely related to speed fluctuations. Therefore, a parameter is introduced to represent the degree of velocity fluctuation of cylindrical gears, which is called the velocity fluctuation coefficient; The velocity fluctuation coefficient represents the uneven degree of velocity variation during stable transmission of elliptical arc tooth line cylindrical gear pairs. According to a large amount of research data, periodic speed fluctuations are the main cause of machine failures.

In recent years, research on elliptical arc tooth profile cylindrical gears has become increasingly mature, but there has been no relevant research on the dynamic characteristics of elliptical arc tooth profile cylindrical gears. Use Adams software to analyze the dynamic characteristics of elliptical arc tooth line cylindrical gears, and analyze the speed fluctuations of gear pairs under different arc tooth line radii, tooth widths, and speed conditions. Analyze the influence of different parameters on the speed fluctuation coefficient, providing reference basis for improving the transmission characteristics of cylindrical gears and theoretical basis for the dynamic characteristics analysis of elliptical arc tooth line cylindrical gears.

A detailed study was conducted on the influence of the dynamic characteristics of elliptical arc-shaped cylindrical gears on the velocity fluctuation coefficient. In the experiment, Adams was used to analyze the effects of machining cutter head radius (tooth line short half axis), tooth width, and speed on speed fluctuations. Draw the following conclusion:

(1) When the value of the cutterhead radius is 1 34b≤RT ≤2. In the 34b range, the speed fluctuation coefficient is relatively small, and the smoothness of cylindrical gear transmission is improved.

(2) When the value range of cylindrical gear tooth width is 0 6RT ≤b≤0. At 8RT, the speed fluctuation within this range is relatively small, and the smoothness of cylindrical gear transmission is good.

(3) As the rotational speed of cylindrical gears increases, they will operate more smoothly. This experimental phenomenon indicates that elliptical arc toothed cylindrical gears are suitable for high-speed working conditions.
