Hypoid gear machining

With the rapid development of China’s automobile industry and the increasingly close cooperation with automobile enterprises in Europe, America, Japan, South Korea and other countries, advanced axle cycloid hypoid gear processing technology and complete sets of processing, measurement, tool grinding, tool adjustment equipment have been gradually introduced to China’s large automobile enterprises. These automobile manufacturing enterprises have also begun to turn to the production and application of cycloid hypoid gears, such as FAW, China heavy duty truck, etc. Corresponding automobile drive axle gear manufacturing enterprises also have supporting production lines, such as Zhuzhou gear, dawn gear, etc. Some large-scale private enterprises have also been actively investigating and preparing to introduce, such as Jiangsu shangchi group. Through independent research and development, private enterprises have also designed and manufactured Cycloid Bevel Gear and hypoid gear processing machines with independent intellectual property rights, such as the yk2260dx high tooth extended epicycloid bevel gear milling machine of Yuege, Luoyang University of science and Technology (Figure 1), the yka2260 full CNC spiral bevel gear dry cutting machine of Chuangyuan, Hunan University (Figure 2), and the ykh2260 Jcb60 developed by Tianjin Jingcheng Machine Tool Co., Ltd. and h650c developed by Changsha Halong kaishuai Precision Co., Ltd. although these CNC gear milling machines still have a certain gap with Gleason and Klinger orikon in terms of machining accuracy and supporting design and analysis software, they have taken an important step for China to independently develop cycloid and other high gear processing equipment.

The advantages of cycloid and other high teeth are gradually recognized by people. It has become the consensus of most entrepreneurs and the goal of enterprise technological transformation that cycloid and other high teeth products replace circular arc involute teeth. However, the technology blockade of foreign advanced enterprises makes it difficult for Chinese manufacturers to improve their independent design level and process improvement, and they are always in a passive position.

To sum up, studying the advanced design and manufacturing technology of cycloid hypoid gear, establishing a closed-loop manufacturing system of cycloid hypoid gear including design, simulation analysis, processing, measurement and error pre repair, and developing supporting software systems are of great significance to improve the design and manufacturing level of cycloid hypoid gear in China and shorten the gap with foreign countries. For this reason, the research group cooperated with FAW technology center to carry out research on cycloid hypoid gear tooth surface modeling, contact simulation analysis, tooth surface error measurement and pre correction, tooth surface active design, measured tooth surface data fitting and actual tooth surface meshing simulation analysis, and compiled a complete set of simulation analysis software.
