This paper introduces the manufacturing and assembly process of conjugate curve bevel gear transmission prototype, the sew gearbox and the new conjugate curve bevel gear box test-bed, and the results of experimental research on the gearbox using the test-bed. The main work and conclusions are as follows:
① The performance test-bed of bevel gear box is built, the test principle and connection scheme of the test-bed are determined, the test support and connection device are designed, and the installation and commissioning of the test-bed are completed.
② The contact spot test of the conjugate curve bevel gear prototype is completed. The single point contact conjugate curve bevel gear is not very sensitive to the error, while the multi-point contact conjugate curve bevel gear is more sensitive to the installation error. The installation error will significantly reduce the contact line of the multi-point contact conjugate curve bevel gear.
③ The efficiency test of the conjugate curve bevel gear prototype is completed. When the power of the conjugate curve bevel gear transmission prototype is 24.8 kW, the transmission efficiency can reach 98.2%, which is higher than the efficiency of sew V230 gearbox – 97%. This phenomenon also shows that controlling the contact point near the pitch line can reduce the friction loss of the gear pair and improve the transmission efficiency.
④ Both conjugate curve bevel gear and traditional circular arc bevel gear have low transmission efficiency under low load due to the inherent friction loss and oil stirring loss of the system; In the case of low speed, due to the low coiling speed and poor lubrication, the transmission efficiency is also low. However, compared with the load and speed, the load has a greater impact on the transmission efficiency.
⑤ In the experimental process, when the reducer reaches the rated power, the oil temperature of the conjugate curve bevel gear is lower, while the oil temperature of the circular arc bevel gear is higher. This phenomenon reflects that the conjugate curve bevel gear has less friction loss than the traditional circular arc bevel gear.
