Parameter design and analysis of hypoid gear with few teeth

This paper mainly introduces the design and calculation of geometric parameters of hypoid gears with small number of teeth and large reduction ratio. By studying the limiting conditions of hypoid gear with small number of teeth and large reduction ratio, the calculation program of geometric parameters of hypoid gear with small number of teeth and large reduction ratio is compiled, and the calculation of geometric parameters of hypoid gear with small number of teeth and large reduction ratio is realized.

The undercutting inspection and meshing interference inspection of gear pair are carried out for the large and small wheels of hypoid gear with small number of teeth and large reduction ratio. The stress analysis and inspection of the designed gear pair are carried out to ensure that the working face of the designed gear pair always bears the action of pushing force and avoid seizure. The main factors affecting the pitch cone angle of gear pair are studied by using orthogonal analysis method.

The design constraints of hypoid gear with small number of teeth and large reduction ratio are given, and its geometric parameter design and calculation program is developed by MATLAB. Taking a pair of 4:41 hypoid gears with small number of teeth and large reduction ratio as an example, the geometric parameters are calculated and designed. The undercutting, tooth tip sharpening inspection and stress analysis of the designed hypoid gears are carried out respectively. The results meet the design requirements. Using the principle of orthogonal method, the orthogonal trial table is designed, and the main parameters affecting the pitch cone angle of hypoid gear are analyzed. The proper selection of cutter head radius and spiral angle is very important for the design of small number of teeth and large reduction ratio.
