Parameter threshold segmentation of helical gears

Due to the unique tooth shape of helical gears, background noise is inevitably generated during the image scanning process, which affects the imaging quality of the end face. In order to eliminate noise and improve the detection effect, a threshold segmentation method was adopted to extract the end face image of the helical gear.

By utilizing the difference in grayscale between the helical gear end face and the background and noise, a threshold is set to segment the image based on the grayscale value, achieving the extraction of the target image. To determine whether the grayscale values of each pixel in the image have reached the threshold, set the original image as f (x, y), and T as the set threshold. The segmented image after the threshold is:

The results obtained by threshold segmentation of the preprocessed helical gear image are shown in the figure.
