In the general concept of engineers, the gear design method based on Hertz contact theory widely used in current engineering can fully meet the needs of engineering design, and the design results are safe and reliable. The actual size of gear is determined based on the design size based on Hertz contact theory, and the difference between them should not be too large. But the above example is obviously inconsistent with this concept and understanding.
There are a lot of similar cases in engineering practice, that is, the actual size of gear is too different from the calculation results based on Hertz theory, which can not be explained by the design calculation results based on Hertz theory, but it is in good agreement with the results of non Hertz contact design theory in this paper.
We have as many as 40 examples, these examples of gears, are used in actual mechanical equipment. There are more detailed structural dimension parameters, working conditions and working parameters of these gears. According to the parameters provided, the gear design method based on Hertz theory, gear design method based on EHL central stress fitting formula and non Hertz contact gear design method are re used to design and calculate these gears. In addition, the anti scuffing ability of these gears is calculated, and the results of various theoretical calculations are compared.
