Characteristics of time-varying transmission error and meshing stiffness of hypoid gear of drive axle

The time-varying transmission error and meshing stiffness of the hypoid gear of the drive axle are directly related to the noise radiation of the drive axle. The influence factors of time-varying transmission error of drive axle hypoid gear are studied. Firstly, the effects of different loads on static transmission error are compared and analyzed. The results show that the transmission error is mainly divided into constant part and fluctuating part. With the increase of load, the constant part of transmission error also increases, and the peak value of fluctuating part increases with the increase of load.

Secondly, the influence of installation deviation on the transmission error of alignment hypoid gear is analyzed. The results show that the offset distance and the axial installation deviation of the hypoid gear have a great impact on the constant part of the transmission error, sometimes leading to a positive transmission error, and have a small impact on the fluctuating part. However, the installation cross angle deviation will make the meshing of the hypoid gear unstable and cause the centrifugal excitation of the hypoid gear. In order to ensure the smooth operation of the hypoid gear, it is necessary to control the installation deviation of the negative axial direction and the positive offset direction of the hypoid gear.

Finally, the difference between the dynamic transmission error and the static transmission error of hypoid gears is compared by the finite element method. The results show that the dynamic transmission error and the static transmission error are not much different. The influence of different input speeds on the dynamic transmission error is analyzed. The results show that the fluctuation of speed has great influence on the dynamic transmission error of hypoid gear, but the dynamic transmission variation trend is the same as the static transmission error.
