Calculation of tangential force of hypoid gear pair

In order to ensure that the working surface of the designed hypoid gear with small number of teeth bears the pushing force during meshing transmission and avoid meshing, the stress analysis of the designed hypoid gear should be carried out.

The calculation formula of tangential force on the large wheel of hypoid gear is as follows:

Fmt2 – tangential force on the mid point diameter of hypoid gear, unit (n);

T2 – torque of hypoid gear large wheel drive, unit (N.m).

The tangential force fmt1 on the hypoid gear pinion is calculated by the following formula:

β M2 – mid point helix angle of hypoid gear wheel;

β M1 – mid point helix angle of hypoid gear pinion.
