In order to further improve the machining efficiency of rough cutting soft tooth face gears with straight edge tools, Dr. Stadtfeld of grinson proposed a continuous indexing method for machining face gears with straight edge tools based on the figure. The approximate generating motion is the same as that in the figure, but in the continuous indexing, the straight edge cutter teeth are staggered and embedded on the circular cutter head, which is realized through the staggered arrangement of cutter teeth and the rotation speed of cutter and workpiece to meet a certain motion law. Although the motion degree of freedom of machine tool is configured as 6, the compound motion law is very complex.
At present, there is no relevant research on this processing method at home and abroad, but Stadtfeld has applied for invention patents in Europe and America, including China, and its technical level is still worthy of investment. Obviously, in addition to the characteristics of the method shown in the figure, this machining method has high machining efficiency, especially suitable for rough cut gears.
