Dynamic characteristics of ship helical gear after modification

Figure 1 and Figure 2 show the frequency domain diagram of angular acceleration of driven wheel after modification. It can be seen from the figure that the angular acceleration amplitude of short modification is 763.1 (°) / S2 at 241.2 Hz and 1107 at second harmonic 4 (°) / S2, compared with the unmodified profile, the amplitude of angular acceleration is slightly reduced, while the amplitude of angular acceleration is not affected by the long modification, which is caused by the change of the meshing law of the involute tooth profile. The results show that with the increase of modification length, gear transmission will tend to be more stable.

Fig. 3 and Fig. 4 show the time-varying load curve of driven wheel after modification. It can be seen from the figure that the average torque value after short modification is 7 × 108n · mm, which is 24.8% lower than that without modification, and the average torque value after long modification is 7.65 × 108n · mm, which is 18.2% lower than that without modification. By comprehensive comparison, the short modification can effectively reduce the peak value and mean value of the load, while the long modification makes the load change more stable in the meshing process. However, due to the reduction of the coincidence degree, the load fluctuation is more frequent, and the intermittent meshing phenomenon occurs more frequently than the short modification.

Fig. 5 shows the time domain diagram of the maximum contact stress of the driven wheel after modification. It can be seen from Figure 5 that the maximum contact stress of driven gear after short modification is 1 239 MPa, which is 29% lower than that without modification, and the average contact stress is 373.14 MPa, which is 17% lower than that without modification; after long modification, the maximum contact stress of driven gear is 1 450 MPa, which is 17% lower than that without modification, and the average contact stress is 507 MPa, which is 12% higher than that without modification.
