Straight bevel gear is used to realize the transmission between two-phase orthogonal shafts. The angle of shaft intersection is usually 90 °. It is widely used in various mechanical products such as differential and machine tools of the transmission system of automobiles and agricultural machinery. Theoretically, the tooth profile curve of the straight bevel gear is generally approximately spherical involute. Since the tooth profile of the straight bevel gear is straight, there is contact in the whole tooth length direction during meshing. Compared with other bevel gears, it is more sensitive to installation error and load-bearing contact, so it is suitable for low-speed and heavy-duty occasions.

With the rapid development of computer technology in recent years, computer modeling and simulation analysis technology has become an important tool for product development and manufacturing, which requires the establishment of a mathematical model completely consistent with the real product.
1) Based on the principle of generating method, a software for calculating the tooth surface points of modified straight bevel gears is written by using Visual Basic language. The software is universal;
(2) according to the calculated spatial tooth surface points, the mathematical model of straight bevel gear is established in UG software, and the dynamic simulation analysis of contact area is carried out;
(3) the standard gear is processed according to the established three-dimensional digital model, and the actual contact area is detected, which is consistent with the contact area simulated in the software, indicating the correctness of the established mathematical model. The modeling and simulation analysis method can effectively shorten the trial production cycle and cost.
This paper expounds the method of establishing accurate mathematical model of straight bevel gear by using gear meshing principle and gear generating method, and dynamically simulates the contact area in the software. This method is worth popularizing in gear industry.
