In engineering application, due to machining error, installation error and support deformation, the meshing position of hypoid gear pair can not reach the ideal state, and there will always be some errors. This error will affect the meshing performance of hypoid gears, resulting in poor tooth surface contact, vibration and reduced transmission stability. The installation error is the key factor affecting the meshing performance of hypoid gears. The axial angle error, axial error and center offset error are selected to study the influence of installation error on meshing performance.
Figure 1 shows the axis intersection angle error ΔΣ = - Contact mark and transmission error curve at 0.05 °.
Figure 2 shows the axial installation error Δ Contact mark and transmission error curve when h = – 0.1 mm.
Figure 3 shows the center offset installation error Δ Contact mark and transmission error curve at v = 0.1 mm.
Fig. 1 ~ 3 show that when the installation error is positive, the contact mark tends to the big end of the big wheel, and when the installation error is negative, the contact mark tends to the small end of the big wheel. Moreover, the influence of shaft intersection angle installation error on its meshing performance (contact mark and transmission error) is greater than that of other installation errors, but compared with general spur bevel gears, the meshing performance of cycloid hypoid gears is less sensitive to installation error. It can be seen that the cycloid hypoid gear has a good absorption effect on the installation error.
