Professor Zhang Shusen of Liaoning University of engineering and technology put forward a new method of tooth profile design and regrinding compensation of sharp tooth scraping cutter head in the article “tooth profile design and regrinding of circular arc bevel gear sharp tooth scraping cutter head”. In this method, the cutting edge of the tool is designed as a straight edge with a certain edge angle, and the hyperbolic generating surface formed by its rotation motion is tangent to the conical generating surface of the high-speed steel cutter head during semi precision milling at the center of the tooth surface contact area, so as to ensure that the pressure angles of the two generating surfaces at the center of the tooth surface contact area are consistent; The different inclination angles of the inner and outer cutter teeth are selected to compensate the forming surface error and ensure the length of the contact area. In the regrinding process, with the decrease of the tool tip offset, the cutting edge of the scraping cutter head is always tangent to the conical shape of the high-speed steel cutter head at the center of the tooth contact area by adjusting the thickness of the hot plate of the cutter teeth.
This method strictly controls the disadvantage of large forming error caused by the use of linear blade and negative blade inclination in tooth profile design. However, due to the limitations of the conditions at that time, the paper did not make a comprehensive analysis of the parameters affecting the tooth profile error of the sharp tooth scraping cutter head, but used the simplified single parameter analysis method to analyze the tooth profile design and regrinding error. Therefore, the optimal tooth profile design parameters and tooth profile regrinding parameters could not be obtained. Although this method reduces the shaping error and regrinding error of the cutter teeth, the calculation of tooth shape design and compensation regrinding of the foot sharp tooth scraping cutter head is large, and it is difficult to select the appropriate design parameters.
With the development of computer technology, the programming of tooth profile design optimization program, tool tooth vertical grinding and external error analysis program will make it easy to determine the optimal tooth profile design parameters, tool regrinding parameters and analysis errors, which will inevitably promote the wide application of this new process.
