Overview of research on failure of hot forging die

Thermal wear and thermal fatigue analysis of forging die are two main forms of thermal failure, which can significantly improve the thermal life of forging die. Therefore, based on the deform simulation platform, this paper analyzes the influence law of multiple parameters on die wear and thermal fatigue.

At present, many scholars have done a lot of research work on die wear and thermal fatigue. Xu Jing et al. Expounded various failure forms of hot forging dies and introduced a variety of die strengthening technologies. Wang Leigang and others used autoforge software to calculate the wear of two typical extrusion die cavities (conical and arc), which laid a foundation for predicting die life and optimizing die cavity. The simulation results show that the wear of extrusion die is concentrated at the inlet, and the wear of arc die is larger than that of conical die, but the wear of arc die is uniform. Lee r s and others combined the Archard wear theory and numerical simulation method to analyze the warm forging process of automobile transmission outer ring and predict the wear condition of warm forging die. Tang Liuding and others realized the dynamic simulation of the whole process of connecting rod hot die forging by using MSC superfom software, and obtained the distribution law of temperature field and equivalent plastic stress-strain field in time and space at the key parts of connecting rod hot die, which provided useful data for the mechanism analysis and life prediction of die thermal fatigue. Kim Y J and others carried out rigid plastic finite element analysis on the forging process of ball joint, carried out elastic stress analysis on it, and obtained the basic data of die fatigue life prediction.
