The difference between helical gear drive and worm gear drive

Spiral gear transmission and worm gear transmission are two basic mechanical transmission modes. Spiral gear transmission is mainly the fit of internal thread and external thread, while worm gear transmission is mainly the engagement of worm and turbine. There are many similarities and differences between the two mechanical transmission modes.

1.Different ways of transmitting motion

The biggest difference between helical gear drive and worm gear drive is that they have different transmission modes. In the process of helical gear transmission, the axis of screw and nut is the same, and screw and nut are in the same plane. Worm drive is different. The two axes of worm and turbine cross into 90 °, and the two axes are not in the same plane.

2.Different forms of transmission motion

Another difference between helical gear drive and worm gear drive is that they have different transmission forms. In the process of worm gear transmission, the form of rotary motion will not be changed, while in the process of spiral gear transmission, the form of rotary motion will be changed. The worm gear drive drives the turbine to rotate through the rotation of the worm; the spiral gear drive changes the rotation of the screw or nut into a linear motion in the process of rotation.

Spiral gear transmission and worm gear transmission are the most basic and common mechanical transmission modes. Analyzing the similarities and differences between them is of great significance for mastering these two transmission modes.
