Three dimensional modeling of curved tooth surface gear

Establish the gear blank with tooth surface, as shown in Figure 1. Extract the top surface, inner conical surface and outer conical surface of the gear blank with arc tooth surface, trim and combine with the working tooth surface, tooth root transition surface and tooth bottom surface to obtain the tooth groove as shown in Figure 2. By subtracting the tooth grooves of these arrays from the wheel blank, the arc tooth surface gear can be obtained. Figure 3 shows the local structure of the arc tooth surface gear.

Arc tooth surface gear is a new type of gear. When using reverse technology to design free-form surface, first analyze the function of the surface in the actual work, and then select the corresponding design method according to the needs. For example, the working tooth surface is the meshing surface, and its surface quality directly affects the meshing performance and NC machining simulation. Therefore, when constructing the working tooth surface, we should not only strictly control the distance error between the surface and the point cloud, but also make the change of surface curvature continuous. The tooth root transition surface of arc tooth surface gear is a non meshing surface, which mainly affects the bending stress of tooth root and has low requirements for surface quality. When constructing the surface, the requirements of tooth surface error and surface continuity can be relaxed appropriately.
