Three dimensional simulation test of hypoid gear with small number of teeth and large reduction ratio

Compared with other hypoid gears with small number of teeth and large reduction ratio, hypoid gears not only have many advantages in meshing, but also undertake the characteristics of large coincidence degree and high bearing capacity of hypoid gears.

However, due to technical reasons, hypoid gears with small number of teeth and large reduction ratio have not been popularized in China. The main reason is the difficulty in parameter design, manufacturing and processing.

  1. The transmission ratio of the studied hypoid gear with large speed ratio is limited to 30, and the number of small gear teeth is as few as 2 teeth. For larger transmission ratio, the situation that the small wheel has as few as 1 tooth needs to be further explored.
  2. The main factors affecting the pitch cone angle of hypoid gear with small number of teeth and large reduction ratio are analyzed by orthogonal method, without considering the interaction between various factors. The analysis of many geometric factors affecting hypoid gears with small number of teeth and large reduction ratio is not thorough enough, especially the method of optimal design.
  3. In the three-dimensional modeling of gear, the tooth top of hypoid gear is only directly generated by the ruled instruction in UG software, without considering the transition of tooth top and tooth root surface, which may affect the authenticity of tooth profile.
