Effect of Coupling Torque and Backlash of Spur Gear

The figure shows the distribution cloud of the tooth contact temperature in the clearance plane between the torque and the tooth side under 4 different lubrication conditions at rotational speed n=1 800 r/min and lubricant viscosity 0=0.033 Pa_s.Four different states were selected to study the influence of coupling changes of gear torque and tooth side clearance on tooth surface contact temperature more comprehensively.

It can be seen from the comparison charts that under four different conditions with the same working conditions and system parameters, the influence of torque and tooth side gap coupling changes on tooth surface contact temperature is similar. The contact temperature of teeth is the highest under dry friction, followed by boundary lubrication, mixed lubrication and elastohydrodynamic lubrication. This conclusion is consistent with the law of friction coefficient of tooth surface under four different states.Specific analysis diagram (b) shows that the contact temperature of tooth surface under mixed lubrication during gear meshing is positively correlated with the torque. It is also found that the contact temperature of tooth surface increases but not significantly with the increase of tooth side clearance.During gear engagement, on the plane of torque and backlash parameter, the lower tooth surface contact temperature occupies a smaller area while the higher tooth surface contact temperature occupies a larger area.
